Little Athletics Australia Launches National eLearning for Volunteers

by Sep 8, 2025Education, News

Melbourne, Australia – 8 September 2025 — Little Athletics Australia, in collaboration with Playbk Sports, has launched its first suite of online education courses through a custom eLearning platform designed to enhance support for volunteers and enhance the experience of participants nationally.

The platform launches with a tailored to the youngest age group in the Little Athletics community, the Coles Little Athletics Tiny Tots eLearning Course which includes:

  • Coles Little Athletics Tiny Tots Coordinator eLearning Course
  • Coles Little Athletics Tiny Tots Activities eLearning Course

These free courses provide a practical, accessible and consistent learning experience for delivering activities to 3–4 year olds. From planning safe and engaging sessions to supporting children to develop the Fundamental Movement Skills, the suite combines educational videos, downloadable resources and real-world examples to help coordinators and volunteers deliver the Coles Little Athletics Tiny Tots program with confidence.

“This new platform reflects our commitment to giving every child the best possible experience in Little Athletics,” said Myles Foreman, CEO of Little Athletics Australia. “We know the role of the volunteer is central to that experience, and this education with resources that are more accessible helps ensure they feel confident, capable and supported.”

Designed for Volunteers, Built for Impact

The courses have been designed to reflect the challenges and opportunities faced by local centres. Learning is mobile-friendly and self-paced, giving volunteers the flexibility to access high-quality education wherever and whenever it suits them. The content focuses on the core foundations of movement, play, and child engagement ensuring every Coles Little Athletics Tiny Tots session is safe, fun and developmentally appropriate.

“This is about making learning more accessible for the people who make community sport happen,” said Damian Hecker, Co-founder & COO at Playbk Sports. “We’ve worked closely with Little Athletics Australia to ensure the platform and content reflect the needs of volunteers working with young children across the country.”

Building for the Future

Little Athletics Australia will soon expand the platform with the release of the new Level 1 Introduction to Teaching Little Athletics Skills (ITLAS) course, reimagined for digital delivery. This will provide further education opportunities for volunteers to learn the basic skills and techniques of each Track & Field event. The traditional in person ITLAS delivery still has an important role and will continue to be available as Level 2 ITLAS.

As part of the release schedule, Little Athletics Australia (LAA) will also launch an updated Inclusion Hub—previously available on the LAA website — directly into the LMS. Educational resources to help support Little Athletics membership and support Hidden Disabilities Sunflower will also be added. This ensures that every volunteer has easy access to tools and resources that support diverse needs within the athletics community, reinforcing LAA’s commitment to inclusivity across all programs.

Additional resources are also in development, forming the foundation of a nationally consistent education pathway.
