BRISBANE LIONS CASE STUDY
Overview
Playbk partnered with the Brisbane Lions to launch Lions Learning, a club-owned digital learning platform designed to extend the club’s impact beyond traditional community delivery.
The first program, Inspire, delivers curriculum-aligned wellbeing and leadership learning for secondary students and accredited professional learning for teachers — powered by AFLW players and club staff.
By combining athlete-led storytelling with scalable digital delivery, the Brisbane Lions are now reaching schools and communities across Queensland — without the constraints of travel, scheduling or operational overhead.

Pain
The Brisbane Lions aimed to extend their reach across Queensland through inclusive education and wellbeing programs.
With limited face-to-face delivery, the club needed a scalable solution to connect with teachers, students and communities — while showcasing AFLW role models and aligning with school curriculum requirements.
Problem
The Brisbane Lions wanted to expand INSPIRE across Queensland, but face-to-face delivery limited reach and consistency.
Demand for curriculum-aligned wellbeing learning was growing, yet schools had limited access to AFLW role models and structured content. The club needed a scalable way to deliver INSPIRE while supporting teachers and maintaining program quality.
Solution
Partnering with Playbk Sports through the Queensland Government’s ActiveKIT initiative, the Brisbane Lions launched Lions Learning powered by Playbk.
INSPIRE became the first program delivered digitally — combining AFLW player storytelling, curriculum-aligned lessons and teacher support into a scalable statewide experience.
Results
Lions Learning has enabled the Brisbane Lions to scale INSPIRE beyond traditional delivery.
In the first term following launch, the program reached 40 new schools.
With an average of 50 students across 8 lessons, this equates to a forecast of 16,000 student learning experiences.

Lions x Playbk Sports
The Brisbane Lions, in partnership with Playbk Sports, launched Inspire — a flexible, AFLW-led wellbeing and leadership program for secondary schools across Queensland.
Delivered through Lions Learning, Inspire combines player storytelling, structured lessons and practical classroom activities for Years 9–10 students, alongside recognised professional learning for teachers.
Already adopted by schools statewide, Inspire gives educators a simple way to deliver wellbeing and leadership learning — without the complexity of traditional program delivery.
