Pain

The Australian sporting eco-system was lacking a single touch point to promote inclusive sporting opportunities for people with an intellectual disability. 

Problem

Providing contemporary educational resources for coaches, volunteers and administrators of all sports that could be accessed through a single learning platform, driven by subject matter experts. 

Solution

Special Olympics Australia provided the timely leadership needed to establish SOA Learn in 2018 – a portal for coaches, teachers, volunteers and National and State Sporting Organisation administrators.  

The development of the portal and resources established a seamless pathway for anyone wishing to provide more inclusive sporting opportunities for people with an intellectual disability. 

Results

With over 7,000 learners, 13 courses, 25+ hours of online content and learner satisfaction rates consistently over 90%, the numbers speak for themselves. Special Olympics Australia are the benchmark for online education in the Australian not-for-profit sector.
