Gold Coast School Amplifies Sport Tech with New Partnership

Palm Beach Currumbin State High School (PBC) are embracing the sport tech explosion in digital learning with the launch of its purpose-built PBC REDS e-learning platform.

In collaboration with Gold Coast-based sports technology company Playbk this three-year partnership is set to forge a new frontier for teaching and learning practice at PBC.

The first roll-out of e-learning sport tech courses is set for Term 2, with close to 300 students gaining access to the ‘Like a Champion’ series. This series of courses are aligned to PBC’s renowned athlete development program and will provide learning on financial literacy, sleep practice for athletes and mindset. These courses will reinforce the holistic athlete development ethos of the REDS (Rise Every Day Stronger) program, developing valuable life skills for athletes off the field of play.

Advanced Sport Tech Opportunities

Following the initial rollout of courses on PBC REDS in term 2, the school intends to build a roadmap so staff and students can access contemporary and engaging teaching and learning tools across multiple curriculum areas.

Playbk will partner with PBC staff to digitise current teaching and learning resources and build new learning opportunities for both students and staff to engage with across the initial three-year partnership.

Playbk, co-founder Jon Shepherd has witnessed the acceleration of e-learning since the business launched in 2015 and sees no signs of this slowing down. “PBC have demonstrated their commitment to educational excellence by forging this path. The school sets itself up for the next decade with this announcement and we’re proud to be working alongside them to achieve their goals.

Sport Tech is far from a new thing; however, remote learning has fast-tracked the need for educators to embrace new technologies in their teaching. Although we’re focused on the here and now, it’s also exciting to consider what the learning platform might look like and help teachers and students achieve in 2030.”

Sports Tech on the Rise

With SportTech on the rise and a generation of digital nomads moving through the education system, the timing seems right for PBC to take a brave leap of faith into a new and exciting era of teaching and learning.
