Playbk Sports has been selected as one of Queensland’s leading sports technology companies to feature at the 2026 NRL Tech Showcase, held during Magic Round in Brisbane.
The NRL Tech Showcase, led by the Queensland Government in partnership with the NRL, brought together a curated group of organisations spanning sport, health, technology and research — all contributing to the next wave of innovation shaping the industry.
For Playbk Sports, the invitation reflects a growing recognition of the role connected digital products are playing in scaling participation, strengthening pathways and delivering measurable impact across sport.
Held as part of the broader Magic Round innovation program, the showcase highlighted emerging technologies and delivery models designed to transform how sport engages participants, supports athletes and connects with communities.
Across the event, several clear themes emerged — the need for scalable participation models, the increasing role of data and digital infrastructure, and a shift towards more accessible, flexible delivery of sport experiences.

Playbk Sports presence at the NRL Tech Showcase centred on its connected digital ecosystem, designed to help sporting organisations move beyond traditional program delivery and build scalable, sustainable participation models.
This includes products such as Playbk Academy, Playbk Schools, Playbk Participate — all underpinned by Playbk IQ — working together to support athletes, coaches, volunteers and communities through structured, accessible learning and engagement experiences.
“Being part of the NRL Tech Showcase is a strong signal of where the industry is heading. There’s a clear shift from delivering programs in isolated environments to building connected systems that can scale participation and impact. That’s exactly what we’re focused on — helping sport move from sessions to ecosystems”
Jon Shepherd, CEO & Co-Founder of Playbk Sports.
The event also provided an opportunity to connect with leaders across government, universities, high performance sport and emerging technology sectors — reinforcing the importance of collaboration in driving innovation across the industry.
Importantly, the showcase wasn’t just about emerging ideas, it was about real-world application.
Coinciding with Magic Round, Playbk Sports and the Gold Coast Titans officially launched Leagueability Move, a world-first digital movement program designed to help people with intellectual and physical disabilities get active anywhere, anytime.
While the showcase explored the future of sport, Leagueability Move demonstrated what that future looks like in practice — using digital delivery to remove barriers to participation and extend inclusive programs beyond traditional environments.
Supported by the Queensland Government’s ActiveKIT program, the initiative highlights how technology can be applied to create more flexible, accessible and impactful participation opportunities across schools, clubs and communities nationwide.
Together, the NRL Tech Showcase and the launch of Leagueability Move represent a powerful alignment between innovation and impact — bringing strategy, technology and community outcomes into a single, connected model.
As sport continues to evolve, Playbk Sports remains focused on partnering with clubs and organisations to design and deliver products that don’t just support participation — but scale it.
End.
