Racing Above – A New Era of Digital Innovation

Kilmore Racing Club is embracing digital innovation in their next phase of business development with the launch of Racing Above, a technology ecosystem designed to support staff learning and commercialise organisation knowledge. 

In partnership with Playbk Sports, Kilmore Racing Club will launch their first batch of courses in late August with a focus on enhancing their current staff onboarding practices. With over 100 staff across full time and causal workloads, this first roll out is designed to improve internal efficiencies whilst bringing to life the Kilmore Racing Club brand in a digital setting. 

With decades of experience in the racing and hospitality industries, Kilmore Racing Club CEO Ben Murphy said the partnership with Playbk Sports was a logical next step in the growth of the business. 

“As a multi venue operation (Kilmore Racing Club owns The Bendigo Club and Kilmore Trackside) with racing and hospitality our core business, it made sense to embrace digital to engage and develop our staff. We know this approach will better prepare all our staff for their roles in the business as well as improve our internal processes”

“Longer term we believe we have some very exciting opportunities to develop a commercial strategy through utilising our organisation intellectual property. We are well placed to provide education at scale to engage with our future workforce and support the development of individuals in the hospitality and racing industries. We have the physical and now digital assets to map out a strategy to innovate the way we look at commercial opportunities in the business.” Murphy added. 

The name Racing Above represents the dynamic and ambitious business mindset the organisation has cultivated, as well as its desire to accelerate the learning and development of its staff as one of its key competitive edges. The portal name pays homage to the organisations racing links whilst embracing a philosophy of growth and achieving goals above the identified benchmark. 

Playbk Sports co-founder Damian Hecker is working alongside the organisation to bring the digital innovation to life. “Kilmore Racing Club is a unique business that provides outstanding race day experiences, contemporary service to its patrons and has strong links to the Kilmore, Bendigo and wider communities. The organisation has always had an acute focus on the development of people and it is exciting what Racing Above will deliver as an education arm of the business” Hecker said. 

“As well as strong local links, it is clear there is an opportunity for Racing Above to service learners at a national and global scale also. Racing Above will be live for internal use only by late August, with early-mid 2023 identified as the timeframe to roll out products for external audiences.
