The Story Behind the Data – Uncovering the Secrets to an EdTech Phenom

Juggernaut.

That’s the only way to describe Special Olympics Australia’s growth as an EdTech phenom in the Australian sporting landscape. From humble beginnings (the launch of one single course in 2018) to one of the most established and sophisticated technology enhanced learning systems in the country, Special Olympics Australia have changed the game when it comes to engaging fans (coaches, volunteers, athletes, teachers, mums, dads and the lost goes on) and driving revenue through EdTech.

With a sharp focus on rolling content releases, building brand awareness and the most critical element of improving the participation experience for athletes through proven education solutions, the organisation has built a committed tribe of digital followers.

This strong community following has propelled the organisation to new heights of technology advancement with personalised learning experiences now tailored specific to five key audiences (Volunteers, Teachers, Coaches, Athletes, Wider Community).

This innovation was launched in February as part of the organisation’s portal rebrand to Inclusive Sport Academy (formerly SOA Learn) and made possible off the back of thirteen online courses, a webinar series, hundreds of resources and a strategic roadmap to propel the organisation to 10,000 learners.

Consider the data:

✅ Over 6200 registered users

✅ Over 21 minutes time on platform (last 12 months)

✅ Over 3500 course completions

✅ Over 90% learner satisfaction

✅ Over 25 hours course content

As part of Playbk’s inaugural in person event – A New Paradigm: Driving Fan Avidity and Revenue Through EdTech – Special Olympics Australia CEO Pierre Comis answered a few questions to explain the journey and future vision for the organisation in the EdTech arena.

Critically, Pierre shares the secrets behind the data and how the team at Special Olympics Australia and Playbk Sports have collaborated and brought their unique industry expertise to build what is now known as Inclusive Sport Academy
