James Dowling Case Study testimonial for Playbk Sports

The Inspire program has been able to be redeveloped in partnership with Playbk Sports. The amazing thing about this is it’s given us an opportunity to refresh this program, make it more accessible to a wider audience of people, and really put our players front and centre.”

Pain

Young people in regional and rural Queensland often lacked access to consistent wellbeing and physical activity programs.

Opportunities to learn from AFLW players were limited to a handful of in-person sessions each year, leaving many without the role models or resources needed to build confidence and resilience.

Problem

Without scalable delivery, the Brisbane Lions faced barriers in extending their community impact. The demand for inclusive, curriculum-aligned programs was growing, yet only 40 Inspire sessions could run annually. Teachers struggled to integrate content into classrooms, and many students missed out on engaging with elite AFLW mentors.

Solution

Playbk Sports teamed up with the Brisbane Lions and the Queensland Government’s ActiveKIT initiative to launch Inspire on Lions Learning.

This digital-first program blends eLearning modules, classroom reflection, and AFL-based activities, supported by AFLW role models. It empowers students, supports teachers with accredited learning, and removes geographic barriers.

Results

Now accessible statewide, Inspire transforms how students engage with health, wellbeing and leadership education. Teachers gain accredited professionla learning to embed Inspire into their classrooms, while thousands of young people can learn from AFLW players. The Lions Learning LMS platform has immediately expanded the clubs reach and impact.
