Sydney, Australia – Special Olympics Australia and Playbk Sports are excited to announce the upcoming release of a new eLearning course, “Delivering Physical Education (PE) for Students with Intellectual Disability and Autism”. This innovative course is available now on the Inclusive Sport Academy, Special Olympics Australia’s Learning Management System.

Targeted at PE and classroom teachers in both mainstream and special schools, this course aims to enhance the sport and physical education experiences for students with disabilities and autism. It addresses the urgent need for educators in mainstream settings to acquire specific skills and knowledge to support these students with disabilities effectively.

Leisl Stimpson, Education and Training Manager at Special Olympics Australia, emphasised the course’s practical impact: “This course is crafted to fill a crucial gap in educational training, equipping teachers with both fundamental and advanced instructional strategies specifically designed for the student cohort we are focusing on.”

The course offers a comprehensive mix of foundational knowledge, expert insights from experienced PE teachers, and a variety of classroom resources. It includes immersive videos that demonstrate best practices in real-world educational settings with a strong focus on authentic application, encouraging teachers to immediately integrate and adapt these strategies in their teaching environments.

About Playbk Sports

In 2015, Playbk Sports founders, good mates Damian Hecker and Jon Shepherd, set out to build an education experience without compromise.

They were tired of clunky PowerPoint Presentation, outdated PDF documents and people in regional areas missing out.

So, they sourced the best technology and built the most immersive online experience they could imagine – Improving Sport for People with an Intellectual Disability – and since then, they’ve built even more products to stand up to technology demands and needs of modern learners of top-tier sports.

Today, we’re trusted by the biggest teams in sport, including the National Football League (NFL) and clients across the Australian Football league (AFL), National Rugby League (NRL), National Basketball League (NBL), Suncorp Super Netball, as well as AusCycling and Special Olympics Australia who form part of a global movement for people with an intellectual disability.

At Playbk Sports, we give world-wide fans what they want – closer access to the sports they love.
