Playbk Sports and AusCycling Join Forces to Revolutionise Bike Education with AusBike Digital

Playbk Sports and AusCycling are proud to announce a partnership to take the AusBike Digital program into classrooms across Australia.

AusBike Digital will be the go-to resource for teachers to support their students in building confidence on their bike, leveraging fun and engaging technology in the process.

With a vision to transform the way bike education is delivered in schools, AusCycling have drawn from their successful on-bike program of AusBike to build a content library for 8 – 12 year old students, all linked to State and National Curriculum outcomes. The resources will be available for teachers from Term 1, 2024 and provide an array of video and interactive content for teachers to deliver in-class, with associated lesson plans and supporting resources catered for.

AusCycling Ambassador and Olympian Alex Porter

Playbk Sports co-founder Damian Hecker shared the company’s enthusiasm to be working on the project and the importance of the subject matter.

“Growing up in Country Victoria, weekends were spent on your bike and weekdays you were often biking to school. We are seeing a reduction in this type of incidental activity across the country, so the AusBike Digital program is timely and important to raise awareness and confidence levels of kids on bikes,”

Damian Hecker, Co-founder at Playbk Sports

Playbk Sports have delivered multiple teacher and student online learning products into schools in collaboration with clients including the National Football League, Gold Coast SUNS, Special Olympics Australia and Palm Beach Currumbin State High School.

Hecker elaborated on the work Playbk Sports have delivered in the education sector.

“Teachers are time poor, and technology is an important enabler for them to access resources that can enhance their teaching and learning programs in an efficient way. But the content needs to have the academic rigour teachers expect and the technology needs to be easy to navigate. We’ve learnt how to deliver both so teachers and students have a great learning experience.”

For AusCycling, the ability to scale the AusBike program was critical and technology was the only way to ensure this. The partnership with Playbk Sports will enable a fit for purpose implementation and provide a platform to reach tens of thousands of students across the country.

Not only will teachers be a key target audience, but parents will also have an opportunity to harness the resources and help their children learn these important biking skills at home as well.

AusCycling Delivery Network Manager Sarah Harris said the development of digital teaching tools that complement the on-bike aspects of AusBike was a critical step towards the overall success of the program.

“Online tools are an absolute must for any successful teaching environment, and AusBike is no different. These teaching tools are robust, but flexible enough to serve a diversity of audiences, and the video and interactive content means we can engage with kids and their parents before and after they step on the bike,”

Sarah Harris, Delivery Network Manager at AusCycling

“Developing tools of this caliber required us to look to industry leaders for best-practice outcomes, and we are pleased to say the partnership with Playbk Sports has delivered teaching aides that will give teachers and parents complete confidence that their kids are getting the best education possible while developing a life-long love of riding their bike.”

The roll out of the AusBike Digital program will culminate what has been a truly collaborative effort with content development being led by the team at AI Digital and curriculum alignment being led by Greg Schneiders from ACHPER Victoria.

Teachers and students will be able to access the content from Term 1, 2024. More information on how to engage with AusBike Digital will be released towards the end of the year.

End.
