Learning Portal to Usher in a New Era for Rainbow Club

The desire to provide world class education programs for their teachers and strengthen the outcomes for their participants was a driving force for Rainbow Club to join forces with Playbk Sports, in a newly minted partnership to bring a connected digital Learning Portal to life for their workforce.

Since 1969 Rainbow Club have been providing safe, inclusive and engaging swimming lessons for participants with a disability. With the not-for-profit steadily growing their reach to 35 clubs, over 1300 members and 190 teachers the time was right to embrace digital with an initial focus on learning programs for their swim teachers.

General Manager of Rainbow Club, Catriona Barry, has overseen the growth of the organisation since 2013 and sees this partnership as critical to the ongoing development of their teachers and delivery of effective programs for their participants.

“The passion and dedication that our teachers bring to Rainbow Club is the reason there is so much demand from families of children with a disability to join a local club. We are very proud to combine our years of experience and knowledge of teaching young people with a disability with the latest online training technology provided by Playbk and to fill this gap which we hope to share with the wider industry”

Playbk’s experience in the not-for-profit and inclusion sector is well known, having reached over 5,000 learners through a long-standing partnership with Special Olympics Australia. For Playbk co-founder Damian Hecker, this partnership with Rainbow Club allows the company to lean on their experience in the inclusion sector and their ability to deliver impactful education through the Rainbow Edge Learning Portal.

“As passionate coach educators, we recognise the way to truly influence participant experience is through world-class coach education programs. Rainbow Club are embracing a digital approach to build scale and connect to their organisation but are also thoughtfully blending this with in venue inductions and teacher support. This really is the gold standard for effective education programs and we’re proud to be working with the organisation as they break new ground in this area”

With the initial rollout of teacher education courses scheduled for April, the Rainbow Edge Learning Portal will be home to the Swim the Rainbow learning programs providing Lead Teachers, Swim Teachers and In-pool Volunteers with engaging and purposeful content to accelerate their induction, build their confidence and enhance their overall teaching and coaching effectiveness.

Jackie Cole leads the recruitment and education of all Rainbow Club teachers and is excited about how this digital strategy will enhance the experience of their participants. “We are delighted to have partnered with Playbk as the training of our teachers is an integral part of our strategy for maintaining quality as we grow.”

The Swim the Rainbow online courses will be just the beginning of the Rainbow Edge journey, with plans to develop a resource hub and more learning programs into the future. This connected digital eco-system is sure to be the backbone of further successes and growth for Rainbow Club well into the future.
