South East Melbourne Phoenix is rising up and making their name heard partnering with total sports tech company, Playbk.

As the first National Basketball League (NBL) team to partner with Playbk, learners will get a personalised experience into the world of the NBL. Playbk will provide the necessary tools for crafting a unique online learning system for students and teachers across Victoria and Australia to access.

“We see the Phoenix Flight Path as a progressive opportunity to enhance of fan engagement with our wider community and connect our additional offerings in the area of mental wellbeing and inclusion”

Brooke Steindl, Community Manager at SE Melbourne Phoenix

Partnering with Playbk was a positive step in bringing this program to life given their experience in developing high quality online learning platforms. Together we share the same vision for this platform and are excited to launch the first course in 2021 to secondary schools in the Latrobe Valley said Steindl.

The 3-year partnership promises to bring students into the energised community of the Phoenix organisation showing how the club fosters high-performance behaviours, inspiring learners to rise up to their leadership potential and encourage social and emotional growth. The initial course announcement will take place in the coming months, with content to be focused on supporting the overall wellbeing of Year 8 and 9 students.

Aimed at improving individual capability and covering topics such as positive self-image, growth mindset, performance planning and emotional intelligence, this program is proudly supported by the Victorian State Government and Melbourne Sports Centres to deliver the initial rollout.

“The Phoenix organisation have achieved so much on and off the court in their short time in the National Basketball League. We look forward to supporting their unwavering commitment to connect with their fans in new ways”

Jon Shepherd, Co-founder at Playbk

Research provided by Deloitte Insights says that by 2030 there will be a critical shortage of potential employees who possess strong leadership abilities and emotional social capabilities compared to the high demand of employers who want employees with these skills. Therefore, Australian students must develop their foundational performance behaviour skills now.
